Today, Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, the Mayor and the City of Plainfield will host the Youth Summit at duCret School of Art (1020 Central Avenue). The Youth Summit will welcomes Keynote Speaker Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, Distinguished Professor of African American Studies at Morehouse College and familiar to many from his social justice activism and journalism. Other special guests will be in attendance, and Plainfield youth will serve as moderators for this summit, which is dedicated to their interests. Walk-in registration begins at 9:00 am, and the summit begins at 10:00 am. There will be musical performances, refreshments will be served, and prizes will be awarded. With a focus on what positive steps can be taken to assist our youth in their transition to adulthood--educational opportunities, job training, conflict resolution, and other topics--this is a chance to hear from Plainfield's young people.
